MAK started construction of dry process cement plant with capacity of 1 million TPA cement for the purpose of substituting imported cement with locally available raw materials and create new employment opportunities for Mongolia.

Khukh Tsav Cement Plant will provide customers with high quality, Euro Standard cement.
In 2012, Mongolyn Alt (MAK) LLC signed engineering and equipment supply contracts for Khukh Tsav Cement-Lime project with FLSmidth & Co. A/S , Denmark, and Fercalx, Italy. Currently, MAK is working to commence and commission the plant by the 2nd quarter of 2016.

1.OPC-33 cement:

This cement is used for general civil construction work under normal environmental conditions. The compressive strength of cement is 32,5 Mpa (300 kg/cm²). Due to low compressive strength, this cement is normally used for M-20 grade of concrete. This grade of cement is more useful for mass concreting and plain cement concreting and can also be used for plastering and single storied individual houses.

2. OPC-43 cement

The 43 grade OPC is the most popular general-purpose cement in the country today. This cement is normally used for M-30 grade or above of concrete. The compressive strength of cement is 42,5 Mpa (400 kg/cm²).

3. OPC-53 cement

53 grade OPC is a higher strength cement to meet the needs of the consumer for higher strength concrete. The compressive strength of cement is 52,5 Mpa (600 kg/cm²). For certain specialized works, such as pre-stressed concrete and certain items of precast concrete requiring consistently high strength, OPC 53 grade is found very useful.

4. OPC-63 cement

63 grade OPC is a high strength cement to meet the needs of the consumer for high strength concrete. The compressive strength of cement is 62,5 Mpa (700 kg/cm²).

5. Sulfate Resistant Cement (SRC)

This is highly suitable where sulfates present in soil, groundwater, seawater, etc. are in concentrations that would damage concrete made with normal Portland cement.

There are 2 types of Sulfite Resistant Cemen: high and moderate resistant types and their chemical ingredients are different.

6. Water resistant cement-WRC

  • Strengthening time 4-5 min
  • Water resistant cement consist of 70% of 42,5 type cement, 10% of Tricalcium aluminate and 20% of high quality limestone

7. Lime

  • Metallurgy limestone reagent time – 5-8 min
  • Construction material limestone reagent time – up to 5 min
  • Calcium Oxide CaO – 68-92%
  • Magnesium Oxide – below 2,5%


an optical fiber cable connection

  • In 2012, optical fiber cable connection work was completed by MAK at the project site.


  • The project site is located 2.4 km from the national millennium road Ulaanbaatar to Zamiin-Uud.
  • 1.9 km long railway construction work, connecting Olon-ovoo railway station to Khukh Tsav cement project site, was completed by mak and commissioned in July 2013

electrical power supply:

  • The electric power for the cement plant is supplied by mak. Installed 110/10kv substation with 16х2mv main transformer, and 110kv power line is branched off to the Choir 220kv national grid. Choir grid is located 68 km from the selected plant site.

water supply

  • Water required for equipment cooling, drinking, sanitation, horticulture etc. will be sourced from underground boreholes which is located 5.3 km from the selected plant site.
